August 01 WATERMELON DAYSThe weather is about as hot as it ever gets here at Cafe DJ. Yesterday, after arriving home from Minneapolis to an empty refrigerator, Bryan and I went to stock up. The best produce item we bought was a huge, juicy ripe Watermelon. Bryan cuts melon in wedges right away and stores it on a huge platter in the fridge. It's ready to offer to anyone who stops by, but as the temperature today rose to 106 degrees, it has been the best thing to snack on ourselves. Bry always saves a huge cross-section slice for himself, right out of the middle of the melon to throw on a plate and eat with a spoon. I have to admit, there's nothing like gigantic slice of sweet watermelon on a super hot day!
